Welcome to Montgomery for AMTESOL 2025

We look forward to welcoming you to Montgomery for the 2025 AMTESOL Conference. This year's conference theme — Celebrating Cultural and Linguistic Kaleidoscopes — sets the stage for celebrating our students’ languages and cultures. The plurality of kaleidoscopes signals the wide array of knowledge and skills needed by educators for effectively teaching English to learners of all ages, from preschool to adult. The constantly moving perspectives created by a kaleidoscope illustrate the diverse settings for teaching English, from public schools to community colleges and university-based language institutes and, also, from cultural centers to faith-based programs and workplace classes.

Our conference theme, with its kaleidoscope metaphor, is set against the colorful Montgomery skyscape painted by a local artist. These elements coalesce at our AMTESOL conference for commemorating Montgomery’s historic past, applauding its vibrant present, and recognizing its promising future. To that end and in honor of Martin Luther King’s birthday, our upcoming conference takes place in downtown Montgomery, a city that played a pivotal role in this region’s history and in the Civil Rights Movement. Just two blocks from Alabama’s State Capitol, the Renaissance Hotel is a strategic location from which you can enhance your conference experience by visiting historic sites and museums. This venue is also ideal for enjoying quality cuisine at many nearby restaurants, such as those in the Alley Entertainment District.

Whether you have attended former AMTESOL conferences or wish to attend your first-ever conference, consider coming to Montgomery and being one of the 400+ attendees at our 2025 AMTESOL conference. Here you will participate in engaging activities and learn from well-known experts and experienced practitioners. You will have opportunities for sharing your experiences and networking with like-minded colleagues. You will also receive useful ideas and tools for promoting and celebrating the cultural and linguistic kaleidoscopes of your classroom, school, and community. If you need help with the registration process or have other questions, please let us know.
